Is it Monday again?

I just can't believe how fast time goes by anymore. It just boggles my brain!

Hubby got off early Saturday, so, we put FRED in the shop! -again- Nothing serious, but a good thing hubby noticed he was leaking brake fluid. The shop owner was nice enough to work on it right away, knowing how badly hubby was going to be needing him for work. *so unlike the other shop we've had do some work on Fred* So, Sunday, we picked him up after $485. Later, we went to Home Depot and Walmart for a few things, and then, had supper at PIZZA HUT--we love their house pizza! I tell ya I get spoiled when I'm with hubby. I feel guilty tho, cause I feel like I should be making good home cooked meals for him when I am here. Altho, that's easier said than done, in a lil trailer! LOL

Today, is the start of their 12-day no-late-no-miss holiday overtime. I laughed at hubby. He is usually SO laid back and never worries about ANYTHING *man, does that piss me off sometimes.....I guess he knows I'll do the worrying, so, why should he!*
But, he had TWO alarm clocks set...he's never late and rarely ever misses a day of work, but, I think he was worried about Murphy's Law.
I toyed with the idea of going home this morning, but, decided to stay and do his laundry and make taco salad for supper. He was supposed to be home at 5, but, called and said they asked him to work 12 hours....and of course, he never says no. They are talking layoffs, and all kinds of crap. So, he will work all he can and hope he gets to go to Globe instead of Bagdad (Arizona), if they move him. He's too good of a worker/welder for them to get rid of him. Globe would be 2 1/2 hours from home, versus 6 hours if he has to go to Bagdad. Bagdad is like NOWHERE! Nothing there. And, HOT!
The other reason I was mixed about going home, is because hubby's foreman had invited us to his mothers for Thanksgiving supper after work Thursday. Don't know what will happen now. I didn't know if the dog would have enough water til Friday, but, I think he will. I guess I'll stay and if nothing else, I'll put a turkey breast in my crock pot for us. Looks like I'll get alot of shopping and crocheting done this week! LOL
I'm also toying with the idea of going to the salon in Walmart and have them do something with my hair. Hubby doesn't want me to cut it, but, I wear it up in a clippy all the time, and am sick of that. I'm really amazed that my long hair bugs me nowdays. When I was young, actually, until about 30, I wore it long and straight. But, as I got older, I just felt like I 'outgrew' it. I'd love to get it done like Marie Osmonds.
I'm so surprised right now, that the laptop has a connection! It won't download email, but, it let's me update this and go to a few other websites....weird!
Gonna get off here and take some Advil, my back is really bothering me...partly because I haven't been sleeping good again, I think.

...count your blessings.

Snow and Road Rage

....this was written Saturday a.m.
I am at the trailer and it dawned on me, that maybe, I could write a post in Notepad and upload it when I could get a connection. *CRS, maybe Lynne told me that!*
I will try it and see if I can get it to co-operate with me.

I left Friday, about 1:45, after I had gotten my big AVON order keyed in. I was amazed to see SNOW in Alpine, but, only on one side of town! LOL I had to look serveral times to be sure that was what I was seeing! First snow of the year. I suppose it shouldn't have surprised me, really. Alpine is at 8500+' elevation and it was 42 degrees!
It's been so dry! But, we did have a lil bit of rain Thursday night....can you count .02"? LOL
~~~I've never really dealt with 'road rage' before, but, I guess I did driving here. I was following a red Ford *some kind of lil pickup*. He was going under the speed limit and we were about 2 miles out of a little hamlet town of Glenwood. Double lines due to the nature of the road, so, I was just mosying along. I noticed he had a black license plate--something I've never seen--thinking maybe he had been a POW vet. He put his arm out the window and motioned for me to go around or something. I thought he was pointing to the double lines...I dunno. He did that 3 times. No way, was I going to pass. I got a ticket on that road, just inside the New Mexico border, so, I'm pretty cautious on that part of the road *even in the 50mph section, where I got my ticket. What a speed trap!* I figured he would pull off or move over, or even get off the road in Glenwood. I wasn't concerned about anything in particular.
We reached the first place in town where he could pull off and he did, in a hurry with dust flying. And, as I went past him, he FLIPPED ME OFF!!! GRRRRR I pulled off the road, right in front of him... I think I half intended in getting out, which could have been Stoopid. I turned around to look at him, and he pulled up beside me. I only saw the passenger, an older guy with a graying beard. I hollered, "You expect me to pass on a double line?" and they pulled off. I don't know what pissed me off more. Him flipping me off, or me not getting the chance to tell him off about flipping me off! How freaking rude!
I had to follow him a bit longer, after we got out of town. I wondered if he was driving slower on purpose. I finally, got to a point where I could pass him. I made myself feel a lil better when I flipped him off as big and HARD as I could! LOL
My blood boiled for quite awhile after that...GRRRRR I am one that doesn't cuss much, or say the 'F' word or flip people off. If I ever say the F-Bomb, you better take cover! And, I think I've only flipped a bird less than a handful of times in my life. ~~~ my bad ~~~
I did keep hoping he had noticed my Red/White/Blue flag license plate *that I had to buy at the MVD* with my PROUD AIR FORCE MOM license plate holder! GRRRR
I finished the rest of my 2 hour drive singing off-key, at the top of my lungs! hehehe ahhhhh! Nothing like road trips! *yeah, right!*
I got to Safford right at 5, so, hubby and I met at Golden Corral for supper. It was really great food, I was impressed. So impressed that I made a pig of myself! lol But, not as bad as hubby! I don't know how he eats so much for him being so skinny! I know he burns a TON of calories everyday, tho. I was miserable all night long. Bad combination of eating SO much, SO late! And, I knew better. It's 9:45 the next morning and I still feel stuffed...it's just not moving. When I'm at home by myself, I try to eat my biggest 'meal' as early as possible, sometimes, that's at lunch. I've found I feel alot better that way, PLUS, I dropped about 5 pounds last week when I was home doing that!
Hubby gets off early today and has tomorrow off. I'd like to take a drive up into the Graham mountains where they have an obseratory. They had a bad fire there about 4 years ago.
I've got stuff to make tacos for supper tonight, so, it should be a RELAXING evening together for once.
I just turned in my first STAMPIN' UP order Thursday. I'm really excited to get my stuff back! I love creating cards with all that stuff and I am hoping to make my Christmas cards with some of what I ordered.
I guess that's all for today. I think I'll do some cleaning and go for a walk.
catching up....
I've got some pictures to share from when I was AWOL...
Moving the trailer.....
We left here:
And got here:
With this:
When hubby finished up his job, we had went to Willcox for Rex Allen Days for 3 days, then, back to the trailer. He took the week off to get things done and to get the trailer moved, and to recuperate! But, hubby does NOT know how to enjoy a DAY OFF!! He loaded stuff up and brought home, we were home for a few days and he went to see his Mom. Friday night--LATE, we went back to Clifton to get the trailer moved on Saturday.
Beings that it was the first time to pull this trailer, we decided to go the low road instead of over the mountain, to see how the truck handled this trailer and such. It was about 20 miles farther, around 65 total mileage. All was good -- we thought -- until hubby was pulling into the trailer park. A guy yelled at him to STOP! The tire was making a terrible racket! When we FINALLY got it pulled into our space, we were down to ONE lugnut on one of the tires! OH MY GOSH!!!! And, this was basically a brand new trailer! SKEERY! Could have been worse......
We really like the spot we have now! Take a look at those trees! Hubby's luck he'll be out of there by summer or something! LOL We are paying $275 plus our own electric, compared to $140 and electric at the old spot. Hubby is only 10 miles from the jobsite, tho. The town we are in now, Safford, is much bigger--compared to what we are used to. Lots of good places to eat and some good, fun places to shop. It's a BIG, SMALL town! LOL The BIGGEST downside to being in this spot is: NO INTERNET!!!!! Holy Crap! How am I gonna survive!?! We are seriously talking about getting a broadband card, but, I HATE the idea of another $60 a month for technology, not to mention a TWO YEAR CONTRACT! YUCK!!! I made myself sick for about 3 days TRYING to see what other options we would have. So, the only thing that works is to sit along the side of the road in front of the trailer park, or go sit in the parking lot of the motel/restaurants in town...and it's TOO HOT STILL to be doing that! decisions, decisions.....
One of our most favorite restaurants has this in the entrance. It's the inside of a Saguaro cactus! It's wood!
FRED threw a lil temper tamprum and had to have a transmission line replaced. Hubby lost 2 days of work because of that! Big drawback to having to depend on a truck for your livlihood. Hubby couldn't locate the part, so, we loaded up to Phoenix to get what he needed.
We saw various cactus all along the way, but, this lil mountain was just LOADED with saguaros....it looked like they were just sprinkled onto it! Most of these were very healthy, too. It's sad to see the ones that are almost ready to topple over because of the decay at their base. Occassionally, you'll see one with many arms, but, the majority of them are not too full. Still, they are majestic, to me.
The next day, hubby was still waiting for FRED to be ready at the shop. We were there at 5 to pick it up and THEY HADN'T EVEN STARTED ON IT!!!! Boy, hubby was pissed, so, he ended up having to repair it in THEIR SHOP YARD!!! Brother! Time for a new mechanic! NOW, FRED has a brake line leak! Talk about tempermental! Hubby has it all lined up for a different shop to work on it Saturday after he gets off work. Little things here and there....we are just keeping our fingers crossed that FRED holds up his end of the bargain for the 12 days of OT through Thanksgiving.
I'm off for awhile to work on my Stampin' Up and AVON orders.
ok....ok...
I am back....it's been awhile and so much has happened! I think my mind is just too overwhelmed to recall all of it, so, I might just start from TODAY!
FIRST OF ALL-----can someone PLEASE tell me how to get the music to be deleted from my rock you slide show? I don't know about you, but, I'm sick of that song now! LOL
I hope to add a playlist soon.
Before I get too far ahead of myself, I have wanted to put this recipe up!
Hubby and I LOVED it! And, I will be making it again for sure! As we were eating it, I asked hubby how long it had been since we had anything with that MAPLE taste! Awesome!
Pumpkin Maple Turnover
Pumpkin and Maple Turnover
Makes: 8 servings
Turnover
1 pie crust (from box or homemade--I used a Jiffy Pie Crust mis, I LOVE those!!!)
1/2 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon maple flavor
1/4 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
Dash salt
Glaze
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon maple flavor
1 tablespoon milk
1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted*
1 . Heat oven to 375°F. Unroll crust on ungreased large cookie sheet. In medium bowl, mix pumpkin, brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon maple flavor, the pumpkin pie spice and salt until smooth.
2 . Spread pumpkin mixture over half of pie crust to within 3/4 inch of edge. Brush edge with water; fold crust over filling. Carefully move turnover to center of cookie sheet. With fork, press edge to seal; prick top several times.
3 . Bake 23 to 30 minutes or until golden brown. Cool 5 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.
4 . In small bowl, mix powdered sugar, 1/4 teaspoon maple flavor and the milk until smooth and desired drizzling consistency. Drizzle over warm turnover. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts. Let stand 10 minutes. Serve warm or cool.
I'm at home for a few days...I've been back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth!!! Each time I come home, I have to just drag myself here. I hate coming home alone. When I do get here (which is now a 3+ hour drive, since we moved the trailer) I'm happy to be in my own home. I stay real busy and that helps. We can't get internet connection on the laptop in the trailer, so, I'd have to go sit along the side of the road to pick up my emails and do any AVON stuff I needed to do. I just hate the idea of paying another $60 a month for an aircard, when we already pay so stinkin' much for all the technology stuffs! Home phone, satelitte, internet package and then, the cell phones. UGH I wish it was easier and cheaper!!! Maybe hubby and I will decide to do that for our Christmas gift to each other---but, then, the 2 year contract sucks, too!
Found out hubby will be working Thanksgiving..that's a first. But, all is well, since we had no plans, anyway. They are trying to get the mine up and going to be producing copper from the new location by December 1st. They gave them a deal they can't refuse. Double time PLUS holiday pay PLUS double per diem! $1050 for one day, can't turn that down. Plus, they will get that for the other 3 days--Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The only catch is they can't miss a day for 12 days or be late~!
I just hope FRED doens't have a temper tamprum! Hubby's had a few ittle things with him, here and there, so, I just hope he earns his money that week! I'm still trying to convince hubby he needs a new truck and keep FRED for backup...wish me luck! He'll need the tax deduction by next year for sure, tho!
Well, I have more to say, but, I gotta get off here and go get a girl hired for AVON. Hope to be able to post more later.
